I bought my copy off of Amazon so I'm not 100% sure if it's the latest by looking at it. As far as I can tell, there are no markings to designate what edition it is.
The only thing I see is a 2012 copyright on the inside cover. Can someone help me out by pointing me to some tell-tale signs that I have the 7th.
Just trying to get started in the 40k world but I want to make sure I have the latest CSM codex. Thanks in advance. So, what's touted as the 7th edition CSM codex isn't really a full revamp, but is instead the 6th with some editing corrections? I'm seeing release dates of the 7th edition of May 31, 2014 when I google the subject, but you're saying it's not a proper, full-on codex release? Undoubtedly, I defer to what you guys are telling me as I am the noob here.

I hear that the new CSM codex is just going to be a combining of the CD and CSM codexs, but hopefully they will also change some rules and maybe give chapter tactics or something similar. The current rumor is that cult troops are being pulled from the Codex in favor of supplements that will also give us cult terminators and cult chosen. It's really disappointing. I would be shocked if the next CSM Codex had anything added or any significant rules improvements.

If you think about it, players need some combination of the following items to make CSMs work (prices estimated from memory): - Codex CSM: $50 - Supplement: Crimson Slaughter: $30 (to get divination and working possessed) - Supplement: Black Legion: $30 (to get chosen as troops without Abaddon and those artefacts) - Dataslate: Be'Lakor: $10 (to get Be'Lakor) - Dataslate: Cypher: $10 (to get Cypher and Fallen) - Dataslate: Helbrutes: $10 (to get Murderpacks) - Imperial Armor 13: $85 (to get Fire Raptors, Sicarans and Rapiers) That's over $200 for a complete set of rules. I don't see them wanting that price point to drop, even if people are not buying everything out there they are buying. He said the CSM Codex and the printed supplements are all the rules that exist for CSMs. He said the battleforce was overpriced and tried to sell me on 2 packs of CSM boxed sets and 4 packs of cultists with Rhinos for each. He said no one uses Predators or Land Raiders anymore and tried to sell me on 3 boxes of fiends.
