Description Leapfrog provides innovative, academic challenges for students completing grades PreK(age 4)-3. Courses include substantial and engaging hands-on activities designed to help students with demonstrated academic strengths acquire and practice new concepts in challenging and interesting ways. Leapfrog provides math, science, computer science, design and engineering, and language arts courses offered in Evanston, Naperville, Palatine, Lake Forest, and Chicago. Students may enroll in one or more weeks of Leapfrog courses.

For students completing grades 1-3, all-day courses are offered. Morning courses meet from 9 a.m. Afternoon courses meet from 1p.m. The All-Day Option courses meet from 9:15 a.m. With an hour break for lunch and recess (except in Elmhurst, where courses meet from 8:30 a.m. To 2:45 p.m.).

Requirements For math courses, students must have a mathematics score in the 90th percentile or above on an in-grade, nationally normed, standardized achievement test. Language arts courses require a verbal score in the 90th percentile or above on an in-grade, nationally normed,standardized achievement test. Students planning to enroll in a science or computer science course may qualify with a math or verbal score in the 90th percentile or above. PreK students are not required to submit test scores. Students completing grade 3 who have taken the PSAT™ 8/9 test through NUMATS may submit their scores for admission (scores do not have to be in the 90th percentile for this above-grade-level test).

Northwestern Gifted Summer Program

Students in grades 2-3 who do not have test scores may submit an admission portfolio. They may also choose to be tested through CTD. Leapfrog students in grades PreK-1 who do not have test scores must be evaluated through CTD's testing service or provide an equivalent evaluation for admission. Testing appointments may be scheduled by calling CTD at 847/491-3850. Students who have successfully participated in the Leapfrog Program or CTD's Saturday Enrichment Program (SEP) may be eligible to apply as prequalified students. Students are admitted as applications are received beginning in early January.
