Raczynski Several studies have evaluated Bully Busters at the elementary school level. Browning, Cooker, and Sullivan (2005) evaluated outcomes of the elementary school curriculum on teacher knowledge and skills for responding to bullying. A randomly assigned group of teachers and school staff participated in a three day teacher training which covered the elementary school Bully Busters curriculum.
At the conclusion of the training, participants in the treatment group demonstrated significantly better results than the control group on seven outcomes: 1) awareness of bullying, 2) knowledge of prevention strategies that can be used in the classroom, 3) identification of behavior characteristics of bullies and victims, 4) interventions for reducing bullying behavior, 5) ways to help victims of bullying, 6) techniques for relaxation and stress management for students, 7) personal stress reduction.
