Good morning all, While I am waiting for my engine rebuild to be completed, I am putting together a parts list so I can hopefully have everything ready when I pick it up from the machine shop in a few weeks. Since the engine will be fresh, I would like to put in a new proofmeter. However, at the places I have looked, I am not finding a replacement for a 1949. The PO cut the wires at the back of my existing gauge so I also need the wiring for this gauge. Can anyone point me in the right direction of the part(s) needed?
Thanks in advance, Smiddy. We can get you a new proofmeter for $44.01 + shipping. All of our tractor parts are discounted! Give us a call. 'The 49' did not have a proofmeter.' - This is what I was afraid of. I will try to get a photo tonight. From what I recall, it looked like there were two wires that were cut on the back of the gauge.
If I were to install a gauge that fits the 1950 model, how/where does one install the other end of the speedo type cable? Will it work on a '49? Smiddythe proofmeter instals to the drive end on the governor cup. Obviously you only find that on replacement governors.

Or newer models designed for a proofmeter. ( not hard to swap ) soundguy.
Unfortunately, I didn't get an opportunity to take a picture of the proofmeter last night. My gauge (and dash for that matter) look like John's photo. If I do have two wires coming out the back of the gauge, does that imply it is an electric gauge? Also, if it is possible the dash/gauge were swapped out, I am hoping (with not much confidence) that the governor may have been swapped out as well. Does someone have a picture of where the proofmeter cable installs on the governor housing so I can see if I have the right governor?
